What is ARES?ARES is an acronym for Amateur Radio Emergency Service®, a public service of the ARRL (Amateur Radio Relay League), the United States' national association of amateur radio operators. There are local ARES organizations throughout the United States. ARES is an all volunteer organization which provides auxiliary radio communications without charge to:
ARES can provide essential communications when:
ARES operators can establish communications at any location, with or without commercial electrical service, using special amateur radio equipment and frequencies granted by the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

About the Santa Fe ARES GroupThe Santa Fe ARES Group is composed of over a two dozen women and men from the general Santa Fe area. Membership is open to any licensed amateur radio operator interested in volunteer public service. We welcome inquiries. ARES Registration Form Meetings We usually meet on the second Saturday of every month at 9:00 a.m. at the Santa Fe Sheriff's Posse clubhouse at 3213 Rodeo Rd in Santa Fe. Directions. For new members, the Orientation Process starts at 0830. Anyone is welcome to attend. Note: We occasionally meet on a different day. If you are interested in attending a meeting, please contact the person listed below to confirm the meeting day and time. We also have a voice net on the Tuesday before the ARES meeting at 7:00 p.m. on the Santa Fe linked repeater system. Anyone is welcome to join in:
